Originally from Long Island, NY, John started playing bagpipes in 2009 after a classmate on the bus home from school persuaded him to attend a rehearsal with the American Celtic Pipe Band. During his early tuition, he learned snare and joined the ranks as a drummer before competing as a piper, but in the end, piping became his passion. Within a year, John’s enthusiasm for piping and drumming led him to co-found his high school pipe band.
John played with the Iona College Pipe Band, serving as Pipe Sergeant and as Pipe Major, and competed with the Empire Pipe Band, before joining the MacMillan Pipe Band. John currently receives tuition from Glenn Brown and also competes as a soloist.
Outside of piping, you can find John playing Billy Joel and Elton John covers on the piano, running long distances, and waking up at the crack of dawn for a hike.
