Michael started playing bass with the Rockville High School Pipe band in 1984. In 1987, he became a member of the grade 1 Scottish Irish Imports which later became the City of Washington Pipe Band where Michael played bass until 1995.

He is currently the midsection playing instructor for the Montgomery County Firefighters Pipe Band. Michael was recruited to MacMillan grade 4 band in 2015 and has been playing with them since. Michael was a part of the band’s climb to grade 3 in 2018 after an undefeated 2017 season state-side and a solid run with the band at the World Pipe Band Championship in 2017.

Michael says, “I love the chances that MacMillan gives me to play music I love with old friends and new ones.”
