Tony grew up Richland, Washington, and started playing pipes in 1982. He held the title of Pipe Sergeant of the Desert Thistle Pipes and Drums from 1990 to 1995, and in 1996, he began playing with the Willamette Valley Pipe Band, a Grade 2 pipe band out of Portland, Oregon. He advanced his piping career when he started playing with the Abbotsford Police Pipe Band, a Grade 1 pipe band from 1997 to 1999, and then started with Atlanta Grade 3, which later upgraded to grade 2, when he moved to the East Coast in 2016.
As an amateur solo player, Tony has won top prizes and piper of the day at the Costa Mesa Highland Games, Stone Mountain Highland Games, and has won 3rd place in the Grade 1 Piobaireachd at Winter Storm in Kansas City. At the Open/Professional level, Tony has won prizes in Georgetown, ON; Blairgowrie, Scotland; the Redding online contest; the Chicago Highland Games; and the professional Piobaireachd at the Glengarry Highland Games in Maxville, ON.
Tony currently plays with MacMillan’s grade 2 pipe band. He enjoys growing with a great band, great group of players, and of course Tom Cangelosi, the best P/S in the business.
